Volunteering Opportunities with Compassionate Neighbours
Join Our Volunteer Team
To help with:

Support seniors in nutritional cooking and social sessions the second and fourth Tuesday morning from 9am to 1pm.

Intergenerational events: volunteer each first and third Tuesday afternoon from 2:30pm to 5pm. Opportunities for both youth and adults.

Small Table Talk Luncheons: volunteer the second and fourth Wednesday from 9am to 12pm with supportive roles for these events.

Seniors Connect Café events: volunteer every Thursday morning from 9:30am to 12pm, with supportive roles for these in-person group events. It can be for ‘all’ Thursdays or for only one Thursday each month.

Simple chair exercise events: help with serving refreshment and other supportive roles on the first and third Wednesday mornings from 9:30am to 11:45am.

Pair with a senior for a weekly in-person or telephone conversation. Opportunities for both youth and adults.

Pair with a senior for a monthly one-hour visit while sharing a free meal or become the facilitator for an monthly apartment group luncheon event. This takes place over the lunch hour on a Wednesday or a Friday in each month, from 11:30am to 1pm.

Family Caregiver Support Group meetings: Volunteer each Thursday afternoon from 1pm to 3:30pm: as a supportive person with the setup and takedown of the event and the serving of refreshments, or as a trained Peer Facilitator. To be a Peer Facilitator, experience as a past caregiver of an older adult is desirable. Training will be provided.

Pair with a caregiver or provide in-person social support for their care recipient on a weekly basis.

Neighbourly Connections: do you live in an apartment, condo, townhouse, trailer park, or gated community along with other older adult residents? Become the Neighbourhood Connector in liaising with Compassionate Neighbours for a monthly group social luncheon with 5 to 20 senior residents in your building, trailer park, or gated community.

Participate in fundraising activities, administrative, or committee activities

Complete a volunteer application form.

Complete the interview process.

Complete a criminal record check (at no cost to the volunteer).

Endorse the Compassionate Neighbours Mission, Vision & Core Values statements, and Policies and Procedures Handbook.

Complete the CNHPS Oath of Confidentiality and Disclaimer form.

Take the required orientation and training sessions.
