Our Story

In British Columbia, as in many parts of the world, our senior population is growing. While most older adults desire to remain in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible, their support networks are often shrinking. Many seniors find themselves with few, if any, family members living nearby. Research consistently points to a heartbreaking reality: increasing loneliness and social isolation among our senior population, as well as among the dedicated family and friends who support them.

Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society was founded to bridge this gap. Serving the communities of Chilliwack, Agassiz, and Hope, we are dedicated to ensuring that no older adult or caregiver has to walk their journey alone. We are a registered charitable society, incorporated as a non-profit on June 21, 2017, governed by the BC Societies Act along with its own Constitution and by-laws, and it received charitable status in 2019.

We are governed by a dedicated Board of Directors and brought to life by a passionate team comprised of 1 full-time employee, 3 part-time employees, 4 contracted part-time staff, and a vibrant network of incredible volunteers.

Together, we provide a lifeline of connection and support, specifically tailored for older adults living with chronic conditions or social isolation that limits their ability to seek interaction. Our services include:

  • Group Social Activities: Creating safe, engaging spaces for older adults to connect and build friendships.

  • Initial Transportation Support: Helping seniors overcome mobility barriers so they can easily attend our social events.

  • At-Home Connections: For older adults who rarely leave their homes or are unable to join group activities, our volunteers provide weekly friendly visits and a monthly shared social meal centered around good conversation.

  • Caregiver Support: Recognizing that caregivers need care too, we offer both one-to-one support and dedicated caregiver support group sessions.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
